You already know how to mix. Now run the whole audio seat.

AV Audio Operator is the corporate-show workflow, taught in the order the job happens: the advance call, the build, verification, rehearsal, the show, recovery when something fails, and the handoff. It is not an audio fundamentals course. It is how the A1 seat is actually run.

  1. Module 02AdvanceKnow the show before you arrive.
  2. Module 03BuildLoad in, set FOH, wireless, line check.
  3. Module 04VerifyTune the room. Prove every destination.
  4. Module 05RehearsePlayback, cues, rehearsal, doors.
  5. Module 06RunExecute on go. Mix every feed.
  6. Module 07RecoverProtect the show first, then trace.
  7. Module 08HandoffShut down, strike, close out.

Module 01 sets the operating standard. Module 09 is the capstone.

What you’ll actually learn

From “I can mix” to “I can run the audio seat”

Where a lot of good techs are

  • You can run a console, but you are not sure what to ask on the advance call.
  • You are not clear on what the A1 actually owns.
  • You do not have a show-day workflow you trust.
  • When something changes or fails, it is hard to know what comes first.

What the course builds

  • Advance the show and find what is different this time.
  • Build the system, then prove every path at its real endpoint.
  • Prepare playback and feeds, and rehearse from the show caller’s calls.
  • Run the show, and take a live change through the show caller.
  • Protect the show first when something fails, then troubleshoot in order.
  • Shut down, strike and hand off properly.

No promises about bookings or rates. This is about being ready for the seat.

This isn’t just video

Short lessons. Real work. The videos are short on purpose: 72 lessons, one to two minutes each, about 70 minutes in total. The learning happens in the workbooks. Every module has one, with worksheets, logs and a scenario to work through, and they are built to be used on your next show.

  1. 01WatchA short lesson on one part of the job.
  2. 02WorkThe workbook page for it: a checklist, a log or a scenario.
  3. 03ApplyUse it on a real or practice show. The 30-day field challenge keeps you at it.

Module 09 · Capstone

Can you actually run the show?

The course ends with one fictional show, the NorthStar Leadership Summit: a 420-seat ballroom with a host, a CEO keynote, a panel and audience Q&A, plus feeds to overflow, record, broadcast and assistive listening. It is a decision exercise, not a gear quiz. You work as the lead audio operator through six tasks.

  1. Advance the event
  2. Build and prove the critical paths
  3. Run rehearsal
  4. Authorize a live change
  5. Recover a critical source
  6. Close and hand off

Frequently asked questions

Who is this course for?

Audio technicians moving into corporate events, A2s stepping up to the A1 chair, AV generalists who get handed the audio console on show day, and production companies that want one standard in the audio seat.

Do I need experience first?

You should already be comfortable on a mixing console. The course does not teach audio fundamentals; it teaches the corporate-show workflow: how the advance, load-in, system check, show and strike actually run, and what the A1 is expected to do at each stage.

Which consoles and equipment does it cover?

It isn't tied to one brand. The workflow applies to any digital console, wireless system or playback setup. Where specific tools come up, such as RF coordination software or playback computers, they are examples of how the job is done, not product tutorials.

How long is the course?

72 short videos, about 70 minutes in total, plus a workbook for every module and a capstone show to plan and run on paper. Go at your own pace; most of the time goes into the workbooks and scenarios.

How long do I have access?

There is no time limit on your access. Buy once and come back to it whenever you need it.

Can I download the materials?

Yes, the workbooks, the Course Guide, the capstone brief and learner workbook, and the 30-day field challenge are PDFs you can download, print, and fill in. The videos stream on the course site.

Can I watch on my phone?

Yes. The course works in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone. Every video shows its narration as on-screen captions, so you can follow along with the sound off.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. When you complete every lesson, including the capstone, your certificate of completion is issued automatically with your name, the date and a unique certificate ID. Lessons open in order, so the certificate is earned by finishing the course. It confirms that you completed this course. It is not an industry licence or accreditation.

Is the course accredited or affiliated with a manufacturer?

No. AV Audio Operator is an independent course from Paul Caccamo Productions Inc. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any manufacturer, venue or industry body.

How much is it, and in what currency?

One payment in US dollars. The launch price is US$147 (regular price US$197). Sales tax, GST or HST may be added at checkout depending on where you live.

Can my company buy it for a team?

Yes. Email paul@paulcpro.com with how many people need access and we will set it up.

What is the refund policy?

The course comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If it is not right for you, email paul@paulcpro.com within 14 days of your purchase for a full refund. The guarantee applies if you have completed less than 25% of the lessons.

What if I have a question during the course?

Email paul@paulcpro.com. Questions about the course material are answered by email.

Will the course be updated?

Yes. When lessons or workbooks are improved, you get the updated version at no extra cost.
